Katie Vernola is an American off-road racer, social media influencer, glamour and nude model. Born Katie Nichole Vernola on October 21, 1991, in Victorville, California, she has also been credited as Katie Skiparnias. Playboy named her its June 2010 Playmate at 18. Her appearance came during Playboy's contemporary era of international and digital publishing.
Vernola has enhanced breasts, brown eyes and blond hair. Her measurements are 34-26-35.
Katie Vernola began modeling while still in high school, booking local jobs before Playboy became the defining opportunity of her early career. Raised in San Clemente after being born in California’s Mojave Desert, she had spent eleven years as a cheerleader and was already comfortable performing and working in front of an audience. Soon after turning 18, she began shooting with local photographers and expressed immediate interest when one suggested submitting her photographs to Playboy.
The timing of her selection gave Vernola a place in Playboy history. Hugh Hefner approved her centerfold only a few months after her 18th birthday, making her the first Playmate born in the 1990s and, at the time, the youngest woman to appear as a Playboy centerfold. Her pictorial also introduced her to surfing, an appropriate setting for someone whose daily life in San Clemente revolved around beaches, wakeboarding and outdoor recreation.
Cars and mechanical work were already serious interests during her Playboy years. Vernola enjoyed spending time in the garage and was comfortable changing oil, rims and tires herself. That enthusiasm eventually developed far beyond a hobby. After buying a Polaris RZR 900, she had the vehicle prepared for competition and entered short-course off-road racing, becoming one of relatively few women competing in her class.
Racing gradually became a central professional focus. Vernola competed in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series and later moved into Pro Lite competition while continuing to race UTVs in longer-distance events. She also became involved with the technical side of the sport, operating from a fabrication and workshop facility where her racing vehicles could be built, maintained and prepared for competition.
Modeling, print work and occasional acting followed Playboy, but motorsport gave Vernola a particularly distinctive second career. Her earlier interest in production also suggested that she never viewed appearing in front of the camera as her only option; during her Playmate period she had spoken about wanting to work behind the scenes for Playboy. In racing, that same practical streak found another outlet through vehicle preparation, workshop operations and the physical demands of competing herself.
