Kassie Lyn Logsdon entered Playboy through a personal connection rather than a traditional casting call. Growing up in Lake Arrowhead in Southern California’s San Bernardino Mountains, she attended Rim of the World High School with Heather Rae Young. When Young began working with Playboy, she invited Logsdon to appear in candid photographs for one of her pictorials, giving Logsdon an unexpected introduction to the magazine.
At first, Logsdon resisted Playboy’s interest and turned down several opportunities before agreeing to pose for Special Editions. Once she changed her mind, events moved quickly. She progressed from appearing as an extra in Young’s photographs to shooting her own centerfold in less than a month, a dramatic change from the receptionist job she had been holding at an insurance company.
Playboy soon became Logsdon’s full-time focus. She left her office job, traveled extensively for appearances and took part in events including Playboy Golf and Mansion parties. She also wore the purple Bunny costume while representing the brand and appeared in additional Playboy pictorials such as Camp Playboy and Splendor in the Grass. Those features were published internationally, extending her visibility well beyond the original magazine appearance.
Her modeling work expanded outside Playboy as well. Logsdon appeared in publications including Guitar World and UMM and worked with photographers such as Tony Kelly, Josh Ryan, Joel Flora and Arny Freytag. Even as modeling became an established profession, however, visual art remained the stronger personal passion.
Painting occupied much of Logsdon’s creative life, particularly character studies and landscapes, though she also experimented with abstract work. She worked with clay, used a sewing machine, sculpted and designed handmade jewelry, maintaining a broad interest in making things by hand. Her paintings were eventually sold to buyers around the United States, turning a private artistic interest into another professional outlet alongside modeling.
