Ashley Mattingly was an American glamour and nude model. She was born Ashley Jean Mattingly on September 10, 1986, in Dallas, Texas. Playboy named her its March 2011 Playmate at 24. Her appearance came during Playboy's contemporary era of international and digital publishing.
Mattingly had enhanced breasts, blue eyes and blond hair. Her measurements are 32-24-32.
Ashley Mattingly entered Playboy with substantial modeling experience already behind her. After growing up in suburban Dallas, she relocated to Beverly Hills and embraced the contrast between Texas and Southern California. By then she had worked across the United States and Europe, with travels that included Greece and Monaco, and had developed a particular fondness for the Mediterranean.
Her route to Playboy came through photographer Josh Ryan. Mattingly had previously worked with him and asked that photographs from their shoot be submitted to the magazine. According to her Playboy profile, the response came quickly: about two weeks later she received a call informing her that she had been selected as a Playmate, turning an existing modeling connection into the most prominent magazine feature of her career.
Playboy soon became an active part of Mattingly’s professional life. She hosted events for the brand, spent time at the Playboy Mansion with fellow Playmates and continued modeling, including work for the swimwear label Swimgerie. She credited the magazine with increasing both her travel and the range of people and experiences entering her life, while keeping a home base in Beverly Hills.
Los Angeles suited Mattingly’s social and recreational tastes. She enjoyed restaurants, shopping, nightlife and the constant activity of Beverly Hills, but also valued quieter time at the beach, intimate dinner parties and evenings at home with her cats. Her modeling schedule could be demanding, yet she described this period as one in which she felt especially busy and fulfilled.
Mattingly’s life ended in 2020. Her death was ruled a suicide by gunshot, and her family later said that she had been struggling with alcohol and substance abuse beforehand. The circumstances of her death brought a tragic close to a public career that had included international modeling, Playboy appearances and promotional work in Los Angeles.
