Anna Sophia Berglund came to Playboy with formal acting training already behind her. After graduating from Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, she studied theater at UCLA and completed her degree in 2008 before continuing her training at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. Acting, rather than modeling, was the career she regarded as her primary ambition, and she spoke openly about the discipline required to build it.
Television gave Berglund some of her earliest screen experience. She made guest appearances on Cavemen, Desperate Housewives and Hannah Montana, where she played a manicurist, and also took smaller roles in the television movie Bad Mother’s Handbook and the comedy Fired Up! Her interests leaned strongly toward comedy, and she cited Saturday Night Live as the kind of ensemble work she hoped to pursue.
