Playboy named her its August 2011 Playmate at 24. Her appearance came during Playboy's contemporary era of international and digital publishing.

Iryna Ivanova pursued an unusually busy combination of higher education and professional work before modeling became a serious occupation. After moving to the United States at 16, she attended the University of Arizona, completing her bachelor’s degree and later an MBA. Her studies also took her abroad for a semester in Greece, where she spent time in Athens and the Cyclades and developed a particular affection for Mykonos.
Languages provided Ivanova with another professional avenue. Fluent in Russian and English, she worked as an interpreter while continuing her education and completing an internship. She also entered the combat-sports world as a cage girl for the World Fighting Federation in Arizona.
