Sally Duberson’s route to Playboy began behind the doors of its clubs rather than in a modeling studio. While studying English at the University of Miami, she took evening shifts as a Bunny at the Miami Playboy Club, using the job to help finance a future move to New York. By the time she was working at the Baltimore Club, Playboy had already become both employer and stepping-stone, and an invitation to test for the magazine gave her another reason to keep moving.
Travel was hardly new to Duberson. Her childhood and student years had carried her from Manhattan to San Diego, Cleveland, Miami and Baltimore, and she spoke about that rootless existence as an advantage rather than a burden.
