Raquel Pomplun is an American actress, dancer, television personality, glamour and nude model. She was born Raquel Lourdes Pomplun on October 24, 1987, in San Diego, California. Playboy named her its April 2012 Playmate at 24. She was later named Playmate of the Year 2013. Her appearance came during Playboy's contemporary era of international and digital publishing.
Pomplun has natural breasts, brown eyes and black hair. Her measurements are 34-25-36.
Raquel Pomplun developed interests in science and performance long before Playboy became part of her career. Raised partly in Tijuana before moving to Chula Vista, California, she excelled in mathematics and science while modeling on the side. She later studied biochemistry and trained in classical ballet, combining an academically demanding course of study with the discipline of dance and occasional work in front of the camera.
Playboy entered the picture after Pomplun submitted photographs to a casting agent. Within two weeks she was invited for a test shoot, and the response led to her selection as a Playmate, with Arny Freytag photographing her centerfold. She also appeared on the cover of Playboy’s Sex & Music issue alongside Bruno Mars. The assignment was her first nude modeling experience, and she approached it with the support of her family while continuing to speak seriously about completing an advanced education in biochemical engineering.
Her association with the magazine reached another level when she was named Playmate of the Year for 2013, becoming the first Mexican-American woman to receive the title. The distinction fulfilled an ambition she had openly discussed during her original Playboy feature, although she continued to describe education and making a meaningful contribution beyond modeling as important long-term goals.
Acting subsequently became a substantial part of Pomplun’s professional work. Her credits include the Mark Wahlberg crime drama The Gambler, television appearances in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Lucifer, and roles in horror projects including Muck and Warnings. She has also worked as a broadcaster and host, while commercial modeling brought campaigns for companies including Mercedes-Benz.
Pomplun later expanded into production, digital comedy and stand-up. She produced and performed in Chocolate Milk Series with Malorie Mackey, starred in the HollyShorts Studios short-form project Infini and began performing stand-up comedy in 2018, including appearances at Flappers Comedy Club. With comedian Irina Voronina, she also produced The Melting Pot Show, a showcase built around America’s cultural diversity, adding live comedy production to a career that had already encompassed modeling, acting, dance and broadcasting.
