Amelia Talon came to Playboy from a background shaped as much by art and gaming as by modeling. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, she was drawn to character design and originally considered studying video game design before choosing a business degree instead. She also described herself as an art student with a slightly Goth streak during high school, complete with a trench coat, boots and a bridge piercing.
Gaming remained one of Talon’s strongest interests. She played Black Ops, Call of Duty and Silent Hill, while naming Pokémon as her longtime favorite. Despite an appreciation for the outdoors around Seattle, she readily admitted that she was more comfortable indoors with a game console, sometimes spending Friday nights gaming with little interest in going anywhere else.
Playboy scouts first brought Talon into the magazine’s orbit, and she appeared as Coed of the Week in May 2011. The response to that feature led to a Playmate test, and Hugh Hefner subsequently approved her centerfold. For Talon, the selection fulfilled an ambition she had already developed before the test and gave her a more prominent place within Playboy’s modeling lineup.
After her Playmate appearance, Talon moved to Costa Mesa, California, and began pursuing modeling more seriously. She divided her time between shoots, friends at the Playboy Mansion and drives along the Pacific Coast Highway in her 1983 Camaro. Cosplay also appealed to her, and she saw a natural connection between dressing as different characters and the transformation involved in professional modeling.
Screen work later added another element to Talon’s credits. She appeared in 10 Things I Hate in 2012 and Chocolate Milk Series in 2014. Those projects complemented a public image already defined by gaming, cosplay, art and the unconventional interests that had set her apart before Playboy discovered her.
