Pamela Horton entered Playboy with several years of professional modeling already behind her. Born in California and raised in the Wichita area, she began modeling at 18 and steadily built experience across digital and print work. Playboy initially considered her for its Cybergirl program, but the response to her test was strong enough to move her directly into a Playmate feature.
Her Playboy debut received unusually prominent treatment. In addition to a ten-page pictorial, Horton was given the magazine cover, an distinction not automatically granted to every Playmate. The opportunity broadened her modeling profile and opened new professional possibilities at a point when she was already thinking seriously about how to combine creative work with her academic interests.
