Shanice Jordyn entered Playboy without any previous modeling experience. While working as a waitress at Hooters, she was approached about appearing in the magazine’s “Girls of the Pac-12” college pictorial. Jordyn initially suspected the offer might be a scam, but her mother encouraged her to pursue it. She accepted and appeared in the October 2013 college issue.
The opportunity arrived while Jordyn was balancing several other priorities in Arizona. She had moved there from South Dakota, at 17 and graduated from Mountain Pointe High School in 2010. Basketball had been an important part of school life, with Jordyn playing point guard, and she maintained her athletic interests afterward through basketball, running and an active routine.
Just two weeks after her college pictorial, Playboy invited Jordyn to test for Playmate. The speed of the progression surprised her: before the Pac-12 shoot, she had never modeled or posed nude and said she had not even been a regular Playboy reader. She traveled to Southern California, met Hugh Hefner and worked with photographer Sasha Eisenman on the Centerfold shoot that elevated her from college-feature newcomer to Playmate.
Modeling was only one part of Jordyn’s plans at the time. She was attending Arizona State University part-time while pursuing work as a dental assistant, continuing an unusually varied schedule alongside the attention generated by Playboy. She enjoyed staying busy and retained the competitive streak of her basketball years rather than reorganizing her life entirely around modeling.
Jordyn’s Playboy connection consequently developed with remarkable speed: a chance encounter during a restaurant shift led to the “Girls of the Pac-12” feature, followed almost immediately by a Playmate test. She later added a screen credit in Legends LZ7 ft. Silento in 2018, several years after the unexpected modeling opportunity that first brought her national attention.
