Before modeling became her profession, Britt Linn worked in an environment far removed from fashion. A certified surgical technologist, she assisted with procedures ranging from brain surgery to childbirth and once recalled holding a beating heart during an operation. That medical experience gave her an unusually practical background before she exchanged hospital scrubs for castings and photo shoots.
Linn entered professional modeling in September 2013 after being scouted through Facebook and signing with an agency in New York City. Her distinctive look proved adaptable: she worked across high fashion and catalog assignments while embracing an edgier image highlighted by her short auburn hair. Cutting her hair had also been personally significant, giving Linn a stronger sense of confidence at the beginning of her modeling career.
Playboy came about through social media as well. Linn was following photographer Josh Ryan on Instagram when she noticed that he was casting potential Playmates. Convinced that the magazine could use a short-haired Playmate, she left him a comment. Ryan responded with an invitation to test, creating an opportunity only months after she had begun modeling professionally.
The test was Linn’s first experience posing nude, and she was uncertain whether her unconventional fashion look would fit Playboy’s established aesthetic. Hugh Hefner’s approval therefore came as a genuine surprise. Linn liked the idea that she could occupy both worlds—working with the proportions and styling associated with fashion while bringing a different, less traditional image to Playboy.
Her interests were similarly varied. Linn painted, appreciated sculpture, read extensively and enjoyed singing blues standards, which she valued for their emotional directness. Her rural New Jersey background remained visible in another pastime: she was an experienced hunter who understood how to process game herself. Within little more than a year, Linn had moved from assisting in operating rooms to New York modeling assignments and a Playboy centerfold.
