Lindsey Vuolo is an American actress, glamour and nude model. She was born Lindsey Eve Vuolo on October 19, 1981, in Princeton, New Jersey. Playboy named her its November 2001 Playmate at 20. Lindsey Vuolo’s path to Playboy began while she was studying communications and business at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and working two cocktail-waitressing jobs to help pay for college. A friend and coworker, Kristy, suggested that she submit photographs to the magazine. Vuolo initially dismissed the idea, but eventually agreed to a $50 bet on one condition: Kristy had to take the pictures and mail them herself. Playboy contacted Vuolo in early 2001, and she flew to Los Angeles for a test without first telling her parents.
Her Playboy experience developed quickly from that first submission. During the trip, Vuolo was photographed at Playboy’s Santa Monica studios and stayed at the Playboy Mansion, where she shared a room with Christi Shake. After returning home and telling her mother what she had done, she was invited back to the Mansion for Hugh Hefner’s 75th birthday party. Playboy later featured photographs from Vuolo’s 1994 bat mitzvah in her pictorial, making her Jewish identity an unusually visible part of the feature.
That visibility generated considerable attention. Vuolo publicly defended her decision when critics challenged it. Rabbi and columnist Shmuley Boteach argued that Playboy had exploited her and criticized the broader effects of pornography on women. Vuolo rejected that interpretation, maintaining that she did not consider Playboy pornography and that her experience with the magazine had expanded her professional opportunities rather than diminished them. The disagreement made her pictorial notable not only as a modeling assignment but also as the subject of a broader public debate about religion, sexuality and personal agency.
Her relationship with Playboy continued for years through videos and recurring appearances in special-edition magazines, including Voluptuous Vixens. In 2006, she appeared in two episodes of The Girls Next Door, joining a Mansion slumber party and later traveling to Las Vegas with Kendra Wilkinson’s group for Wilkinson’s 21st birthday. She surfaced again in Playboy’s orbit in 2009 on The Celebrity Apprentice, helping Brande Roderick’s team sell cupcakes while dressed in a Playboy Bunny outfit.
