Elke Jeinsen is a German model, actress, television personality, and certified personal trainer. She was born Elke Erika Weintraub Jeinsen on July 25, 1966, in Stockholm, Sweden, and was raised in Hanover, Germany. Her zodiac sign is Leo. Her original Playboy Data Sheet listed Hanover as her birthplace.
Elke Jeinsen was Playboy’s Playmate of the Month for May 1993. She was 26 years old when the issue was published. Her centerfold and accompanying pictorial, titled “Elke, Elke über alles,” were photographed by Arny Freytag.
Her Playmate Data Sheet listed her measurements as 34B-24-34, with a height of 5 feet 8½ inches and a weight of 118 pounds. She has blue eyes and blond hair.
Jeinsen began pursuing modeling at the age of 15, when she entered a competition organized by a German teen magazine. She was selected from approximately 500 applicants for a professional photo shoot in Munich. After graduating from high school, she trained and worked as a secretary before leaving the profession to concentrate on modeling.
In 1985, Jeinsen won the Miss Hannover title. The following year, she placed second in the Miss Germany competition and was selected as Playboy Germany’s Playmate of the Month for October 1986. Her local popularity led German newspapers to nickname her “Bunny Elke.”
Her international modeling work took her to Mexico, the Maldives, Spain, Greece, Canada, Italy, and the United States. She represented German sportswear, swimwear, and underwear brands and worked in Calgary during the 1988 Winter Olympics.
Jeinsen lived in Milan for approximately one year and appeared as a member of the Cin Cin dance troupe on the Italian television program Colpo Grosso. She also worked in Italian television productions and modeled for fashion clients during her time in the city.
She moved to Los Angeles in the early 1990s and became the May 1993 Playmate in the American edition of Playboy. Her appearance made her one of the few women to receive Playmate of the Month titles in both Playboy Germany and the United States. Earlier claims describing her as the first German woman featured as a U.S. Playmate are inaccurate because Ursula Buchfellner had held that distinction in 1979.
Jeinsen subsequently appeared in numerous Playboy videos and international editions. Her Playboy credits included Playboy Video Playmate Calendar 1995 and a Playmate Profile collection featuring the magazine’s May Playmates from 1990, 1993, 1996, and 1999.
Her acting work included appearances in Wayne’s World 2, Baywatch, Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV, Charlie’s Angels, Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles, Rock Star, and the television film Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding. She also appeared in Joe Cocker’s music video for “Night Calls.”
Jeinsen later became a NASM-certified personal trainer and fitness specialist. Her professional profiles also identify her with senior fitness, group fitness, and boxing-based training.
