Jennifer Lavoie

Playboy Playmate, Miss August 1993

Jennifer Lavoie Bio

Jennifer Lavoie is an American model, actress, entrepreneur, and former adventure-racing competitor. She was born Jennifer J. Lavoie on February 25, 1971, in Nashua, New Hampshire, United States. Her zodiac sign is Pisces.

Jennifer Lavoie was Playboy’s Playmate of the Month for August 1993. She was 22 years old when the issue was published. Her centerfold and accompanying pictorial, titled “Hook, Line and Sinker,” were photographed by Richard Fegley.

Her Playmate Data Sheet listed her measurements as 32D-22-32, with a height of 5 feet 4 inches and a weight of 100 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair.

Lavoie grew up in Hudson, New Hampshire. Her parents divorced when she was eight, and she was raised partly by her father, a mechanic who was seriously injured in a fall while Jennifer was still a teenager.

After graduating from high school, Lavoie worked at the women’s clothing retailer 5-7-9. She quickly advanced to a management position and supervised employees who were considerably older than she was. She had been interested in psychology at school but did not initially plan to attend college.

Her mother encouraged her to begin modeling. At the age of 18, Lavoie experienced a rapid physical transformation, which she described as increasing her bra size from a B to a D while reducing her waist by four inches. She subsequently entered approximately 20 local beauty pageants and swimsuit competitions, winning 17 and placing second in two others.

A New York photographer named Mishka saw one of Lavoie’s photographs and offered to create a modeling portfolio for her. Although she had never previously posed nude, she eventually agreed to a test session. Mishka submitted the resulting photographs to Playboy, leading to her selection as Miss August 1993.

Lavoie continued working with Playboy for more than seven years after her centerfold appearance. She appeared in numerous newsstand special editions, promotional events, and video productions, including Playboy: Wet & Wild V, Edenquest: Sandra Taylor, and Playboy: Blondes, Brunettes, Redheads. She also appeared on the cover of Playboy’s October 1994 issue.

She later became an original member of the Playboy X-Treme Team. In 2000, Lavoie competed in the Eco-Challenge expedition race in Borneo alongside Playmates Danelle Folta and Kalin Olson and U.S. Marine Corps officer Owen West. The event was filmed for the television special Eco-Challenge Borneo.

In 2006, Lavoie helped establish Primitive Planters, a New Hampshire company specializing in fabric, macramé, cotton, jute, and other decorative plant hangers. Earlier biographical material identifies her longtime friend Sharon Clair as a collaborator in the company’s launch. The company’s current history names owner Jennifer Marshall and confirms that the business began in 2006 with a fabric plant-hanger design.
