Brook Power

Playboy Playmate, Miss May 2016

Brook Power Bio Playmate of The Year

Brook Power is an American model, Playboy Playmate, visual artist, actress, surfer, and photographer from Inglewood, California, United States. Raised on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, she entered the Playboy archive with a presence shaped by island life, artistic independence, and a deep connection to the natural world.

Brook Power became Playboy’s Playmate of the Month in May 2016, receiving the title at the age of 27. Her appearance came during Playboy’s brief non-nude period, when the magazine was experimenting with a more fashion-led and personality-driven interpretation of the Playmate feature. Brook brought an expressive, self-possessed quality to that new format, balancing the ease of a working model with the sensibility of an artist.

Her May 2016 pictorial was photographed by Aaron Feaver. The feature presented Brook with a restrained editorial mood, allowing gesture, expression, and personality to carry the images. Rather than building the story around spectacle, the photography reflected the free-spirited quality described in her original profile: intuitive, independent, and comfortable following her own direction.

Born in Inglewood, California, Brook moved to Hawaii with her family when she was young and was raised on Oahu near the ocean and jungle. Her father was an artist and surfer, and that upbringing shaped both her creative instincts and her attachment to outdoor life. Surfing, horseback riding, hiking, animals, and the ocean remained central to her identity long after she established herself professionally in Los Angeles.

Brook built a career that moved between fashion, commercial modeling, magazines, and visual art. Her original Playboy profile described her as an artist regularly hired by record companies, fashion labels, and publications. Later interviews continued to present art not as a secondary hobby, but as a serious and evolving part of her life, including photography, collage, and other mixed-media work.

Her May 2016 feature also highlighted her Chippewa and Sicilian ancestry. Brook spoke about the importance of female independence and described Sacagawea as one of her role models. Her reflections connected personal identity with broader questions of strength, equality, freedom, and the ability of women to define success on their own terms.

At the time of her Playboy debut, Brook was in the first trimester of pregnancy. Eleven months later, she was named Playboy’s Playmate of the Year 2017. Her Playmate of the Year pictorial was photographed by David Bellemere at the Playboy Mansion only a few months after she gave birth to her son, Ozzie. The timing added another dimension to her public story: modeling, motherhood, physical change, and professional recognition unfolding almost simultaneously.

Brook’s original Playboy profile also revealed a strong attachment to animals, environmental freedom, and life outside the conventional fashion circuit. She described the ocean as a source of spiritual connection and argued that happiness had to be created internally rather than supplied by status or public approval.

Brook Power’s place in Playboy history is defined by more than two titles. Her appeal comes from the meeting of apparently different worlds: fashion and nature, motherhood and modeling, physical confidence and artistic introspection. The result is a modern form of glamour that feels instinctive, grounded, and unmistakably her own.
