Crystal Harris is an American actress, glamour and nude model. Born Crystal M. Harris on April 29, 1986, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, she has also been credited as Crystal Carter, Crystal Hefner, and Crystal Harris Hefner. Playboy named her its December 2009 Playmate at 23. Her appearance came in the 2000s, as Playboy's print tradition began to share space with an expanding online presence.
Harris has enhanced breasts, blue eyes and blond hair. Her measurements are 34-25-35.
Crystal Harris met Hugh Hefner while she was completing her studies at San Diego State University, where she majored in psychology. Their introduction came at a Halloween party at the Playboy Mansion, and Harris later recalled that their shared academic interest in psychology gave them an immediate subject for conversation. Within months she had become Hefner’s principal girlfriend and moved into the Mansion.
Playboy soon became part of Harris’s life in its own right. Her relationship with Hefner placed her at the center of the Mansion’s social world, while her selection as a Playmate established a modeling identity separate from simply being his girlfriend. The relationship continued to develop quickly, and on Christmas Eve 2010 Hefner proposed with a three-carat diamond engagement ring.
Their first attempt at marriage ended abruptly when Harris called off the wedding five days before the scheduled ceremony in June 2011. The timing created an awkward piece of Playboy history: an issue prepared before the breakup had already presented her as “Mrs. Hugh Hefner” and subsequently had to acknowledge her as the “runaway bride.” Harris later described feeling overwhelmed by the combination of a televised proposal, legal arrangements, contracts and the complicated realities surrounding life with Hefner.
Harris and Hefner reconciled in June 2012, almost exactly a year after the cancelled wedding. On New Year’s Eve that year, they married in an intimate ceremony at the Playboy Mansion, making Harris Hefner’s third wife. She subsequently took the name Crystal Hefner and assumed a more permanent role in Mansion life, sharing the property with their dogs and taking a particular interest in its gardens and grounds.
Business interests developed alongside her association with Playboy. Harris worked as a DJ, pursued entrepreneurial projects and created a loungewear line, combining fashion and entertainment with the public profile generated by her marriage. Her relationship with Hefner lasted until his death in 2017, leaving Harris closely connected to the final years of one of Playboy’s defining figures and to the closing period of the Mansion era under its founder.
