Playboy named her its January 2003 Playmate at 35. Her appearance came in the 2000s, as Playboy's print tradition began to share space with an expanding online presence.

Rebecca Anne Ramos arrived at Playboy with an unusually substantial academic and professional background already behind her. She graduated magna cum laude with a B.B.A. in finance and later earned a law degree from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. Before modeling became a prominent part of her public profile, she had worked as an attorney at a large law firm and regarded her education and independence among her proudest accomplishments.
Politics was equally familiar territory in the Ramos family. Her grandfather, Henry B. Gonzalez, served in Congress and became the first Mexican-American elected to the United States House of Representatives from Texas.
