Playboy named her its July 2018 Playmate at 28. Her appearance came during Playboy's contemporary era of international and digital publishing.

Valeria Lakhina came to modeling by accident after completing degrees in psychology and children’s education. She was working as a waitress when she was discovered at 22, setting aside a more conventional professional path for assignments that soon took her beyond Ukraine. Her education remained meaningful even after the change: she continued working with children whenever circumstances allowed.
Travel became a regular part of Lakhina’s working life as assignments carried her through different countries and eventually left her based in Moscow, with ties to both Moscow and Kyiv.
