Teri grew up in Florida and started modeling at age 14. Her October 2002 Playboy profile says she moved out of her mother’s home at 14, briefly studied psychology at a local college, and later moved to the Midwest with her boyfriend.
Her Playboy profile described her as having both Japanese and German family background. Teri said her mother is Japanese and her father is German, and joked that her family included several large sumo-wrestler-looking uncles and a small Japanese grandmother.
