DeDe Lind was an American actress, glamour and nude model. She was born Diane Gayle Lind on April 15, 1947, in Los Angeles, California. Playboy named her its August 1967 Playmate at 20. Her appearance came during the 1960s, as Playboy grew into a major force in American magazine publishing.
Lind had natural breasts, brown eyes and blond hair. Her measurements are 34-21-33.
Discovered at a Burbank pool as a teenager by photographer Leon Beauchemi, DeDe Lind arrived in front of the camera with a fresh, unmistakable look that photographers found hard to ignore. That early encounter set the tone for a photographic career that favored clean studio work and carefully staged glamour over gimmickry.
Her centerfold was shot by Mario Casilli, whose polished lighting and compositional restraint framed Lind with the kind of studio clarity that defined much of late‑1960s pictorial style. The images balanced a coy ease with deliberate photographic craft, the sort of combination that kept her pictures in circulation long after their first publication.
One of those images took an improbable detour from magazine racks to space: a photograph of Lind that originally appeared in a Playboy calendar was carried aboard the Apollo 12 mission in November 1969, a small, irreverent piece of pop culture that traveled to the Moon with the crew. Back on Earth her likeness resurfaced in several retrospective Playboy projects over the years, including the magazine’s late‑1970s and early‑1980s compilations and a later “Playmates Revisited” feature; she also appeared in Playboy video pictorials, among them a racing sequence and a sailing yacht spread.
Lind’s story ended too soon when she died of ovarian cancer. What remains is a compact but memorable photographic record: studio‑crafted centerfolds, a calendar shot with an otherworldly trip, and a string of returns that kept those pictures, and the chapter of Playboy they belong to, in circulation for decades.
