Playboy named her its May 2013 Playmate at 23. Her appearance came during Playboy's contemporary era of international and digital publishing.

Kristen Nicole brought an established enthusiasm for travel and modeling to Playboy. An accomplished bikini model, she was already comfortable in front of the camera and described seeing the world as one of her greatest pleasures. Spain, Rome, Venice and Saint-Tropez ranked among the destinations she enjoyed, although Mexico remained her favorite getaway—close enough to California for the kind of spontaneous escape she particularly appreciated.
