Playboy named her its June 2000 Playmate at 22. Her appearance came in the 2000s, as Playboy's print tradition began to share space with an expanding online presence.

Shannon Stewart had been appearing in beauty pageants since childhood, long before Playboy became part of her career. Raised in Louisiana, she attended St. Amant High School and continued with fashion shows, runway work and local pageants through her teens.
