Raised in Pennsylvania’s Poconos as one of five sisters, Monaco arrived at performance the way many do in sporting towns: by way of school fields and community stages. She competed in soccer, softball, track and swimming, acted in theater and speech-and-debate, and learned to skate from a mother who had been a figure skater. After high school she attended Northampton Community College and worked as a lifeguard at a local resort — a practical credential that would turn out to be useful when cameras followed.
