Heather Van Every

Playboy Playmate of The Month for July 1971

Heather Van Every Bio

Heather Van Every is an American Playboy Bunny, glamour and nude model. She was born on September 14, 1951, in Rock Island, Illinois. Playboy named her its July 1971 Playmate at 19. Her appearance came during Playboy's 1970s print era, when the magazine reached the height of its mass-market influence.

Van Every has natural breasts, hazel eyes and brown hair. Her measurements are 32-23-34.

Heather Van Every found the working life that suited her at the Denver Playboy Club, where being a Bunny felt less like an office job than hosting an unusually busy party. She greeted members at the door, spent time in the gift shop and occasionally challenged patrons to bumper pool. The constant movement and conversation suited someone who had little interest in a conventional career path and even less desire to spend her days behind a desk.

Colorado itself mattered just as much. Van Every had lived in Denver since childhood and spoke about the Rockies with genuine awe, particularly the feeling of being surrounded by landscapes large enough to make a person feel pleasantly lost. Camping was a favorite escape, even if fishing was mostly something she tolerated for the sake of whoever accompanied her. She was happier handling the cooking once somebody else had baited the hook.

Unlike many women who passed through the Playboy Clubs hoping to build entertainment careers, Van Every was unusually clear about what she did not want. Acting held little attraction, and she had no elaborate modeling ambitions. Becoming a Playmate appealed partly because it would leave behind something memorable, not because she expected it to launch a carefully planned show-business career. Years later, that photographic record received an unexpected cinematic afterlife when her centerfold was briefly shown in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

After leaving the Club, Van Every continued to favor a less structured life. Painting and wood carving gave her creative outlets, while Denver remained the place she wanted to explore rather than escape. She imagined marriage and a family more readily than Hollywood, and she was perfectly comfortable admitting that she was not one of those people who needed to be constantly planning the next achievement.

That lack of careerist urgency is precisely what makes Van Every stand out in the Playboy archive. At a time when a centerfold could be treated as a stepping-stone toward acting or celebrity, she seemed satisfied to let the experience be exactly what it was: one memorable chapter in a life built around mountains, open air and taking each day as it came.
