Having begun her career on stage at the age of 12, she went on to become the youngest topless dancer at London's Windmill Theatre from 1957 to 1958, at just 15 years old. While on a promotional tour in the United States, she was discovered by Hugh Hefner, with her first Playboy appearance titled "The Bosom" in September 1958.

Her second feature in Playboy was photographed by Russ Meyer, with her third spread titled "The Bosom in Hollywood" appearing in August 1959.

In the 1960 voodoo film "Macumba Love", Wilkinson was promoted as having measurements of "44-20-36". While her measurements were previously reported to be up to "45-22-35", she stated in 1963 that they were actually "40-22-35".

Although her photos continued to appear in anniversary and retrospective features, Wilkinson made her final appearance in Playboy in December 1962. In 1999, she was ranked #30 on Playboy's list of the "100 Sexiest Stars of the Century."
