Savannah Smith

Playboy Playmate of The Month for May 2020

Savannah Smith Bio

Savannah Smith is an American recreational mechanic, glamour and fashion model. She was born on July 18, 2000, in Winder, Georgia. Playboy named her its May 2020 Playmate at 19. Her appearance came during Playboy's contemporary era of international and digital publishing.

Smith has natural breasts, brown eyes and red hair. Her measurements are 34-25-35.

Growing up in the woods outside Athens gave Savannah Smith an unconventional introduction to both education and image-making. She was homeschooled so she could travel with her father, a cameraman and field producer for a hunting and fishing program. Although she disliked the arrangement initially, Smith later credited that upbringing with giving her considerable independence away from the pressures of a conventional high-school environment.

Her father’s profession also put cameras into her childhood in a surprisingly literal way. Smith recalled dressing herself in themed outfits from around the age of four and giving him directions about how she wanted to be photographed. Modeling eventually became a serious objective. At 19, she searched for open casting calls in Atlanta, drove herself into the city and, according to her public profile, signed with her first agency that same day. It was a refreshingly practical entrance into the business: find the casting, make the drive, see what happens.

Professional fashion work followed, with Smith later represented in the women’s division of LA Models. Her route from rural Georgia into agency modeling is especially useful context for her Playboy appearance because it shows that the interest was neither an accidental discovery nor something created by the magazine. She had been thinking about modeling since childhood and had taken the initiative to enter the Atlanta market herself.

As Miss May 2020, Smith joined a particularly representation-conscious period in Playboy’s history. Her interview also ventured beyond modeling. She discussed the cultural changes she observed around the 2016 election and the growth of the #MeToo movement, noting how people within her industry increasingly used their public voices. Smith wanted to develop her own platform in ways that could benefit younger people, connecting that goal with having adults who listened to her when she was growing up.

That makes Savannah Smith’s early biography unusually coherent despite its relatively small collection of public credits. A cameraman father introduced her to the mechanics of creating images; homeschooling gave her an independent childhood; and at 19 she turned a long-standing interest into agency representation through an Atlanta casting call. Playboy arrived soon afterward. Her May 2020 feature caught Smith near the beginning of that professional story, when the childhood game of directing Dad’s photographs had become something considerably more serious.
