Carol Eden’s modeling career eventually gave way to a very different kind of working life. After her time in front of the camera, she became a licensed vocational nurse and later cared for elderly patients in San Clemente, California. By the late 1980s, nursing had replaced modeling as her everyday profession, even though memories of Playboy still followed her through old photographs, fan mail and occasional recognition.
Those memories became newly relevant when her daughter, Simone Eden, decided to follow the same path nearly three decades later. Simone had first seen her mother’s Playboy photographs as a child and spent years telling Carol that she intended to become a Playmate herself. Carol was initially skeptical, but the possibility ultimately became reality in 1989.
Their paired appearances created a genuine Playboy first: Carol and Simone became the magazine’s first mother-and-daughter Playmates. Simone even adopted the Eden surname professionally as a tribute to her mother.
