Cody Renee came to Playboy through the kind of chance encounter that fit neatly into its college-era mythology. While studying communications at the University of Illinois, she was balancing classes with three part-time jobs, including shifts at Hooters. It was there that a contributing Playboy photographer noticed her and encouraged her to try modeling for the magazine. Renee, already accustomed to being in the spotlight through beauty pageants, took the suggestion seriously.
The news arrived while she was back at work. Playboy selected her as Coed of the Week for May 5, 2011, prompting an impromptu celebration among her coworkers.
