Dakota Burd Bio
Dakota Burd was a South African Dancer, glamour, fashion and nude model. She was born Dakota Burden on December 1, 1994, in Cape Town, South Africa. She appeared in an international edition of Playboy in November 2017 at 22. Her appearance came during Playboy's contemporary era of international and digital publishing.
Burd had natural breasts, brown eyes and blond hair. Her measurements are 32-24-33.
Dakota Burd built her modeling career in Vancouver after moving to Canada from her native South Africa. A dancer with a strong interest in physical fitness and the arts, she began modeling in 2014 and quickly developed experience across several different styles, including fashion, fitness, commercial, glamour and artistic nude photography.
By 2017, Burd had been working in front of the camera for nearly three years. Her versatility attracted Playboy, and she completed her first shoot for the magazine in September of that year. Playboy Plus introduced her to its audience as a 22-year-old Vancouver-based model whose background in dance, fitness and art had helped shape her confidence and movement in front of the camera.
Her November 2017 Playboy feature arrived at a point when Burd was still expanding her portfolio. Playboy presented her as a newcomer with considerable potential and highlighted the unusually broad range of modeling genres she had already explored. Outside Playboy, she also worked with Met-Art, adding another international glamour platform to her credits.
Dance and fitness remained important parts of Burd’s life alongside modeling. They also complemented a career that required her to move easily between commercial assignments, fashion work and more artistic photography. With only a few years of professional experience behind her, she had already built a varied portfolio and begun reaching audiences beyond Canada.
Burd’s career was tragically brief. She died in Nanaimo, British Columbia, on April 6, 2018, at the age of 23, only months after her Playboy appearance. Her November 2017 Playboy Plus feature consequently stands among the final milestones of a young modeling career that had progressed rapidly from its beginnings in 2014 through fashion, fitness, commercial and artistic photography to an international Playboy audience.
