Skye Blue developed her modeling career alongside an equally strong interest in visual art and fashion. After growing up in Cocoa Beach, Florida, she relocated to New York City to pursue modeling and began applying to the Fashion Institute of Technology with the intention of studying fashion design. Sewing, drawing, painting, photography and poetry were already regular creative pursuits, and she viewed modeling through much the same artistic lens.
Playboy entered her career unexpectedly after a fan sent her photographs to photographer Holly Randall without Blue knowing about it. Randall contacted her directly, an email Blue later recalled receiving with considerable excitement. By then she had been modeling for approximately two years, but the approach provided an opportunity to work with one of the publications she particularly wanted to appear in.
Her first Playboy Plus shoot took place in June 2018, with Blue describing the experience as a natural fit for her ideas about photography and the human form as art. She was subsequently selected for the magazine’s digital monthly honor in January 2019. The recognition arrived while she was still establishing herself in New York and exploring how modeling could coexist with her ambitions in fashion and other creative disciplines.
Blue subsequently built a substantial portfolio across glamour and adult modeling, working with numerous studios and publications.
