She later received the Cybergirl of the Year title for 2006. The feature was part of Playboy's web-first model program.

Monica Leigh came to Playboy through a combination of personal encouragement and experience outside modeling. Before her magazine work, she had been employed as both a bartender and a dental assistant. The decisive influence came from childhood friend Courtney Culkin, herself a Playboy Playmate, whose example encouraged Leigh to pursue opportunities with the magazine.
Her first Playboy work developed through the company’s newsstand special editions rather than the flagship monthly magazine. Those assignments gave Leigh repeated exposure within the Playboy universe and led to a prominent cover appearance on Playboy’s College Girls in September 2005.
