With Mexican and Norwegian roots, she spent her earliest years in Virginia before moving to Southern California with her mother at six. There, ballet became her first serious passion — fourteen years of training that once had Ariana dreaming of making dance her profession.
A knee injury in her late teens changed those plans, but sitting still was never really her style. Loken reinvented herself with impressive speed, becoming a certified Pilates instructor and licensed esthetician while also earning an associate’s degree as a paralegal. “I’ve had more careers in my young life than most,” she joked to Playboy. Through every change, she credited her mother as the constant who supported her “through thick and thin.”
Then came Playboy. Loken had admired the way the magazine photographed its models — beautiful, confident and glamorous without losing their individuality — and decided she wanted her own chance in front of the Bunny’s cameras. Rather than waiting to be discovered, she attended Playboy’s Los Angeles casting call in 2011. “I’m confident about my body, so I went to the casting call, and that’s where it all began.”
Her Playboy shoot followed in September 2012, and Ariana arrived with considerably more personality than the standard glamour résumé might suggest. She described herself as “sexy and sweet,” then immediately undercut the polished image by admitting, “I’m a big dork!” She loved food, wasn't afraid of an arm-wrestling challenge and carried some of the athletic confidence that years of ballet and Pilates had given her.
