Renata Lusin had already spent years at the highest levels of competitive dance before television made her familiar to a much wider German audience. She began dancing at eleven and pursued serious training from an early age, eventually forming a long-running professional partnership with Valentin Lusin. Together, they became multiple regional champions, twice won the German Championship in Ten Dance and competed successfully at national and international level.
In 2018, Lusin joined RTL’s Let’s Dance as a professional dancer. Her early seasons demonstrated just how unpredictable the competition could be: an injury ended her first partnership prematurely, while in 2020 she reached the final with Moritz Hans and finished as runner-up. By then, her combination of technical discipline and energetic television presence had made her one of the show’s established professionals.
Playboy Germany put Lusin on the cover of its April 2021 issue, accompanied by a pictorial published while she was competing in that year’s season of Let’s Dance. The appearance presented a different side of a performer audiences primarily knew from ballroom and Latin dance, bringing her professional confidence from the dance floor into a classic Playboy setting.
The timing proved memorable. Just weeks after the Playboy issue appeared, Lusin and former professional footballer Rúrik Gíslason advanced to the Let’s Dance final. They scored 89 out of a possible 90 points on the final night and won the 2021 season. A week later, Lusin added another victory when she and Valentin won the show’s professional competition, Die große Profi-Challenge.
Her competitive dance career soon reached another milestone. Later in 2021, Renata and Valentin Lusin won the Professional World Championship in Showdance Standard before announcing the end of their active competitive careers. By then, her path had taken her from championship ballroom dancing to prime-time television and Playboy, with the April 2021 pictorial arriving in the middle of one of the most eventful years of her career.
