Brittney Shumaker came to Playboy with virtually no conventional modeling background. Originally from Florida, she was working as a bartender in Dallas when a friend introduced her to a casting agent. Years spent dealing with customers had already made her sociable and comfortable meeting strangers, but the introduction unexpectedly gave that outgoing personality a new professional outlet.
Her progress through Playboy Plus was exceptionally fast. Shumaker completed her first nude shoot for the site in May 2015 and, little more than a month after entering the modeling scene, was selected as Playboy’s Cybergirl of the Month. Even Playboy remarked on the speed of the transition, joking that her rise might have constituted some kind of record.
Shumaker saw Playboy as something broader than a familiar publishing name. Bartending remained an important part of her life while modeling was beginning to develop.
